Description: A geoarchaeologist is a specialist in geology or geography, who assists with interpretations of how an archaeological site relates to the ground where it lies.

Duties: Work with the archaeologist, take samples, examine soil profiles, run tests, write reports or sections of report.
Locations: Academic and cultural resource firms throughout the world
Job Type: Can be permanent, if with a large firm, or as a faculty member in a geography or geology department; but primarily the project geoarchaeologist is only a contract or part-time specialist asked in for specific projects.
Availability of Employment: Varies. The field appears to be growing into more of a vital piece of the puzzle. Although not all investigations do not explicitly require a geomorphological interpretation, almost all archaeological sites are, after all, found in soil deposits.
Education Level Required: Usually requires an advanced degree in geology; geoarchaeology is a degree in some places and is desirable.
