Earliest Stone Sculpture

Excavations at Hohle Fels in Germany have recovered a sculpture of a combined lion-man in levels dated to 30,000 years ago, according to this article in Nature, Lion man takes pride of place as oldest statue: 30,000-year-old carving might be work of Neanderthals or modern humans.
