On Being a Scientist

What does being a scientist mean? Archaeological chemist Nikolaas van der Merwe (Professor of Natural History, University of Cape Town) has given some thought to the question; and he recently gave this seminar to the newly organized graduate student association at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. In it, Dr. van der Merwe discusses what he thinks science should be; and he was kind enough to let me post it here for you all to read.
