The University of Pennsyvlania Museum is celebrating Charles Darwin's 197th birthday this Sunday with a teach-in by Dr. Janet Monge, pictured here with hominid fossil casts from the University of Pennsylvania Museum collection. Penn Museum's Darwin Day Celebration and Evolution Teach-In is on Sunday, February 12, 2006, with a hands-on hominid fossil cast station. Co-curator of "Surviving: The Body of Evidence" (to open in the fall of 2007) and Keeper of Physical Anthropology, Penn Museum, Dr. Monge will be speaking at the teach in on "Skulls and Bones: Anthropology and Human Evolution."
The festivities honoring the birth of Darwin will include readings from Darwin's work and a viewing of the BBC documentary Life on Earth, and will be held this coming Sunday, February 12, from 1 to 5 in the afternoon.
