The First Human is a new book written by science writer Ann Gibbons, describing the discoveries and personalities involved in the past hundred years or so of the race to find the earliest human ancestor. The book is thoroughly enjoyable, even if the reported pettiness of the scholars makes me cringe. This fascinating look into the men and women of the search for the earliest human ancestor is well worth investigating on your own. The First Human: The Race to Discover Our Earliest Ancestors
