More on the Pyramids at Giza

Since I posted the new slide show on the Giza Pyramids, I've heard about a couple of websites on Giza that are well worth spending some time at.
  • The Giza Plateau Mapping Project (AERA). Probably the best known work completed in modern times at Giza is Mark Lehner's Giza Mapping Project. This site includes information on several aspects of Giza, as well as about the 'Lost City' or Gebel Qibli, a recently discovered 4th dynasty site on the plateau.
  • The Giza Archives Project. The Giza Archives Project aims to create an online library of monographs, articles, and manuscripts on the Giza Necropolis, and indeed has well over 100 downloadable pdfs on Giza explorations.
  • The Pyramids of Giza, a collection of these and other links
Thanks to Alvaro H and Farrah for their recommendations. This photo is of the Great Pyramid (or Khufu's Pyramid), and was taken by Joanne and Matt.

I hope you saw Dr. Lehner’s NOVA special presentation called “This Old Pyramid” on PBS last night. It was excellent. A website for the television program exists on the PBS one that’s worth investigating.

No! Darn, I missed it again. I tell ya, if there is a TV on in a room you’ll find me bent over a computer in another one.

Thanks–the show is a repeat, and it is the NOVA link that I do have on the main Giza page.
