An article in the online version of National Geographic this week reports from the excavations by University of Sheffield archaeologist Mike Parker-Pearson at the Stonehenge Riverside Project.
The story describes in some detail a small settlement had been discovered at Stonehenge that appears to be dated to the earliest construction period of the site, about 2600 BC (the main part of Stonehenge wasn't built until 500 years later).
