AIA: History of Archaeology Article

The Archaeological Institute of America has just posted an article called "Americans in the East: Francis Henry Bacon, Joseph Thacher Clarke, and the AIA at Assos" by noted historian Susan Heuck Allan on the history of Francis Henry Bacon, Joseph Thacher Clarke, and the AIA at Assos, which originally appeared in the book Excavating Our Past. Makes for some interesting reading about archaeology in the late 19th century.
