The Moche civilization of ancient Peru consisted of towns, villages, temples and cemeteries wedged between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes mountains between 100 and 800 AD. They were fabulous potters, and because they were so good at making vessels illustrating many aspects of their lives, we have access to a lot of information about their culture, despite their lack of a written record.
