The Archaeology Channel this week has an audio file of a half-hour interview with Ric Gillespie and Tom King, the guys leading the search for archaeological evidence of the legendary missing aviator Amelia Earhart, on Nikumaroro Island, Kiribasi.
In the interview with TAC director Rick Pettigrew, Gillespie compellingly describes how Earhart and copilot Fred Noonan disappeared in the Pacific Ocean on the last leg of their trip around the world--I swear I was hoping they'd find her this time--and King describes the archaeological investigations on the island to date and the plans for the future. Well worth a listen.
