During the 1940s, American writer John Steinbeck (definitely better known for writing The Red Pony, The Grapes of Wrath and Of Mice and Men)
went on a scientific expedition on the Sea of Cortez (aka the Gulf of California) with his friend Ed Ricketts, where they collected marine biological specimens.
