Inca Architecture at Machu Picchu

One of the best known sets of archaeological ruins in the world, Machu Picchu has drawn millions of visitors,

resulting in heaven only knows how many photographs squirreled away in tourist memory books.

And no wonder: the palatial residence was part of the personal estate of King Pachacuti (AD 1438-1471), one of the last great Inca kings, and it is perched in an impossible location high in the Andes Mountains.

The Walking Tour of Machu Picchu uses photos by Gina Carey along with some detailed notes about the architecture and history of these amazing hunks of rock assembled in the foggy mountains of Peru.
