that includes several very important, and very old, archaeological sites, including the cave sites of es Skhul, et Tabun, el Wad and et Jaml.

The sites on the slopes of Mount Carmel are important for several reasons, but mostly because they are among the earliest human occupation of the Levant region, and thus can help us understand the movement of people out of Africa.
