The site of Cerro Lampay is a fairly small archaeological settlement of the Caral-Supe civilization of Peru. Caral-Supe, you'll recall, is the earliest civilization in the Americas, at 4,600 years ago, with monumental architecture, and an agricultural base including squash, beans, and cotton.
Cerro Lampay is among the first Caral-Supe sites to be excavated, and it is very interesting, because it gives clues as to how that monumental architecture might have been arrived at. But you'll just have to click on through to read all about it.
