Too soon to do another Moche site? Maybe not. Huaca de la Luna (Shrine of the Moon)
is actually part of the main Moche site, one of two monumental hunks of architecture that make up the type site of the Moche civilization (the other is, of course, Huaca del Sol--Shrine of the Sun, and you realize, of course, these are modern names for these structures).
But I totally missed how interesting Huaca de la Luna was until I was working on the Sipán study from a couple of weeks ago. Huaca de la Luna has a really grim history, where the gorier aspects of the Warrior Narrative were played out and the remainders left behind for archaeologists to find.
But, as usual, you'll have to click on through to read all about it.
