Today's site is called "le Petit Paradis" (the Little Paradise), and it could be said that the paradise at Verlaine is mostly in the eyes of lithic artifact experts--that is to say, archaeologists who specialize in stone tools. The site is a small community of Neolithic farmers of the Linearbandkeramik or LBK culture, and among the artifact assemblage was a remarkably large number of flint stone tools and the chipping debris from their construction.
