The more I read about the European Mesolithic, the more I'm interested in these creative adapters to climate change (hint hint). Today's site of the day is the classic European Mesolithic site of Star Carr, built on a man-made brush pile on the edge of a swamp next to the Hertford River of Yorkshire.
Star Carr was an engineering marvel for its hunter-gatherer inhabitants beginning about 10,000 years ago, and the excellent preservation identified at the excavations make this definitely a site worth reading more about.
