Site of the Day: Paquimé (Casas Grandes), Mexico

Everybody's heard of the Aztec civilization, and probably a few have heard of the Toltec civilization.

but the third great power during the middle ages of the American southwest was centered at the foot of the Sierra Madre mountains in Chihuahua Mexico.

Called Paquimé or Casas Grandes, the power was centered on the site of Paquimé itself, an enormous pueblo, covering nearly 90 acres, seven stories high, and containing perhaps 2,000 rooms. Click on through to read more about the site of Paquimé.
