I hear tell that there was a special on the History Channel this week called Journey to 10,000 BC that is supposed to be better than the recent 10,000 BC movie, at any rate. Although once again I was off doing something starchy and academic (or taking a nap), luckily my colleague Kambiz Kamrani was awake and paying attention:
- My thoughts on History Channel’s “Journey to 10,000 BC”, Kambiz on Anthropology.net
And here are some reviews of 10,000 BC (the movie):
- Real or Fake? The Frightening Creatures in '10,000 BC', Charles Choi on LiveScience
- Movie Review: 10,000 BC, Seth Shostak on LiveScience
- 10,000 BC the Movie, Kambiz on Anthropology.net
- The Science on 10,000 BC, Anton Kunin on Der Vorsokratiker
- 10,000 B[rainless] C[ontent]?, John Hawks
- 10,000 B.S., The Holoscenester
Journey to 10,000 BC (the History Channel special) is going to play several times in the next week or so, so take a look at the website for showtimes in your area.
The movie is probably playing in lots of places right now, but here's a way to find out for yourself if it's as dreadful as some say:
- 10,000 BC, the official website
- 10,000 BC (from IMDB)
- 10,000 BC (review from Rotten Tomatoes)
- 10,000 BC, review from the Rolling Stone
- Interview with director Roland Emmerich, from About.com's Guide to Hollywood Movies, Rebecca Murray
