I am happy to announce that my first book, The Archaeologist's Book of Quotations, has just been published by the Left Coast Press.
The book contains over 300 quotations from articles and books by archaeologists over the past 200 years, as well as from movies and music and comics and other bits of pop culture, presented in chapters on fieldwork and ethics and whether archaeology is a science or not.
I had a blast putting it together: hope you like it too.

You must be so proud. Congrats! I like the cover.
I’m doing a history carnival next week and would like to mention this fun new book. Could you possibly send me scans of a few pages (if possible with an ancient- or medieval-historical flavour)?
I overheard a discussion between two grad stidents in the ’80s. The topic was the relative merits of the ideas of Robert Dunnell, the stats guy, and Michael Schiffer – the behavioural archaeology guy.
One of the students, Robert Whitlam, said. “I’d rather have Dunnell Vision than Schiffer Brains.”

I agree that the cover is great. And the inside as well — I’ve been dipping into it with great enjoyment. Really enjoyed your intro.
Congrats Kris! I just ordered my copy, can’t wait to use it in teaching my archaeology classes at Colo State U.
Best wishes,
