Archaeological evidence of avocado history show that wild avocado was eaten at the Tehuacan Valley site of Coxcatlan Cave some 8,000 to 10,000 years ago, and first domesticated in central Mexico by at least 5,000 BC.
Whether you mush it into guacamole or slice it thin and serve it in California rolls, the avocado lends a tiny piece of history in modern cuisines.
