A Ramble Around Teotihuacan

Archaeologist Richard A. Diehl, currently professor emeritus at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, worked at the massive ruins of Teotihuacán in the basin of Mexico when he was a student at Pennsylvania State University working with the late and much lamented William T. Sanders. Recently, Dr. Diehl assembled a walking tour of part of the site, sharing his accumulated knowledge and admiration for the site with us.

A Ramble Around Teotihuacán takes us to such well known structures as the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon and the Palace of the Quetzal Butterfly, and shows us what we might have missed along the way and what archaeologists have learned about the site.

Great tour! This makes me want to return to Teotihuacan. I’ll be sure to have my Spanish student check out this tour before we head to Mexico next summer!

This is wonderfully well done, Kris. Please extend my thanks to Professor Diehl, viewing the tour was almost like being there again.

We just returned from Teotihuacan – the Walking Guide proved invaluable, saved us a lot of time and effort. It was a long day, but we were able to see and savor the best stuff without too much wasted motion.
I pasted Diehl’s map and some of his commentary into a four-page “brochure” which served as our constant reference. Glad I didn’t climb beyond the first level of the Pyramid of the Sun!
