We're starting a new school year all too soon, and if you are among those returning to classes, you know, as I do, there will be research papers in your future. I have a suggestion: no matter what class you're in, write a research paper about archaeology.

The great thing about archaeology, as far as I'm concerned, is the breadth that it covers. Everything that humans have ever done, from 2.5 million ago until yesterday, is the stuff of which archaeology is made. To be perfectly frank, that is the exact thing that drew me to the field in the first place.
Over the past fifteen years, I've assembled a glossary with over 1500 entries, each one a tantalizing topic. You can find a history of humankind, from the earliest tool maker to the present. You can find an Atlas of Archaeology, including archaeological topics from every corner of the world.
Archaeology: it's what humans are, so get on it!
