Pompeii and the Archaeology of Vesuvius's Eruption

Pompeii and Herculaneum were two Roman towns in Italy that were destroyed by a volcano on August 24, 79 AD. The sites have seen over two centuries of archaeological research, beginning with the Bourbons, and attesting to the fascination of Pompeii.
