Them Athabaskan Bastards sparked memories for at least one archaeologist. Randy McGuire at Binghamton University wrote:
Your song "The Athabaskan Bastards" is quite familiar to me
because several of my undergraduate professors knew it and sang it
often. They all learned it at the University of Arizona, Point of
Pines field school that was run by Emil Haury. For years the Arizona field school had an annual volleyball game with the University of Chicago Field School, run by Paul Martin, which they called the Mogollon bowl. The trophy was a mano that was passed back and forth. I was told that the song was the fight song of the Arizona team. Needless to say this is all folklore for me and I only came by the information by word of mouth.

Thanks for a good laugh! Being of Athabaskan background I have no illusions about my distant kin...more importantly, I now have a song I can hum whenever I do a bit of armchair archaeology. In fact, the dang thing is playing earworm and I find myself humming it all the time.....your fault, I'm sure. The only thing that would cure it is to start singing the theme to Gilligan's Island or The Beverly Hillbillies - but I choose life and pray it will fade away on its own accord. ;)
