William Foxwell Albright [1891-1971]

Definition: Long-time director of the American Schools of Oriental Research, and widely considered the father of modern biblical archaeology, William Foxwell Albright is perhaps best known for his work on the Dead Sea Scrolls and Ugaritic tablets.
