Archaeology Poll:
Are article abstracts a useful resource?

The World Atlas of Archaeology on the Web contains a number of abstracts from scientific journals and public interest magazines. Some of them are very brief, just a couple of hundred words on an article in a journal some place; the only way to read the article itself is to buy the magazine, subscribe to the journal, or go to your local library.

For example, on the Mozambique page, there's an article abstract listed from AUN by Paul Sinclair; and on the Belize page there are several links to the Journal of Field Archaeology abstracts. These links certainly don't belong on the main page, but they might, if you the readers find them useful, belong on the World Atlas, which is, as you know, intended to be a guide to the various countries in the world.

I'm not sure how useful they are, though; and I was thinking about not adding these links any more, but got a request from somebody recently to add a link to one of his. If you have an opinion about whether you find these links useful, please take the time to vote in the poll below. I'll keep it up and running until, say, the end of October, and then I'll decide based on those replies, whether to continue the practice or not. If you want to talk about it in more detail, go to the bulletin board and register your comments.
