Bigo Bya Mugenyi (Uganda)

Definition: Bigo Bya Mugenyi is a late Iron Age settlement in Uganda, the capital of the Kitara or Chwezi Dynasty, and occupied from about 1000-1500 AD. The site includes an enormous (nearly 4 square miles) enclosed area with villages and forts which was surrounded by a 12 foot ditch dug into the bedrock.
