David L. Clarke [1937-1976]

Definition: A British archaeologist who was extremely influential for the length of time he had on earth, Clarke experimented with computer modeling, statistical techniques, and was an advocate of an explicitly scientific archaeology. Considered with Lewis Binford as one of the founders of the "new archaeology."
