James Deetz [1930-2000]

Definition: American archaeologist, quite influential in the anthropological study of historic archaeological sites, as well as public archaeology. Probably best known for his work with Edwin Dethlefson on stylistic change over time in New England grave markers, and for his book In Small Things Forgotten, still a classic.
