Definition: American ethnographer and archaeologist Jesse Walter Fewkes coined the term "ethnoarchaeology" to describe his method of using modern day people's actions and behaviors to explain archaeological remnants. His main ethnoarchaeological work was at Tusayan Pueblo and Mesa Verde in the American Southwest, although among ethnographers, he is perhaps best known for his 1890 wax cylinder recordings of the music and stories of the Passamaquoddy Indians of the American Northeast.
