Definition: A large, elaborately worked silver vessel pulled out of a peat bog near the town of Gundestrup in Denmark, the Gundestrup Cauldron 27 inches in diameter and 15.6 inches high. The decoration on the vessel walls (deities and ritual scenes) suggests the vessel dates to the La Tene period (early Iron Age, ca. 175-150 BC).
