Kulturkreislehre School

Definition:
The Kulturkreislehre (German meaning "culture circles") School was a theoretical movement underpinning ethnography and eventually archaeology as well, which came out of Germany and Austria around the turn of the 19th century. Fritz Graebner was a leading proponent of this school of thought, which examined the processes of world-wide diffusion of ideas and methods.
