Definition:
The earliest ceramic-making culture known in central America are from villages sites called La Montana complex in the Turrialba Valley of Costa Rica, and dated between 1000-300 BC. The pottery vessels from sites such as La Montana are very similar to pottery from South American sites dated between 2000-1000 B.C.
