Definition:
Two hominid fossils from two sites in the Lan-t`ien district, Shensi province, including a cranium (skullcap) at Kung-wang-ling and a mandible (lower jaw) at Ch'en-chia-wo, thought to date to 600,000 years BP. These hominids are known as Sinanthropus lantianensis, but are probably Homo erectus.
