Definition:
The Little Bighorn Site was the site of a battle which took place in the mid-19th century in Montana, where George Armstrong Custer got the tar beaten out of him by Lakota and Cheyenne warriors camped out with their families. The site is important to archaeologists as the first really comprehensive study of a battlefield site, used to amend and enhance oral history concerning the battle. Excavated by Douglas Scott and Melissa Connor during the mid-1980s.
