• Chalcolithic period
 
 
Definition: Archaeological site in the Almeria province of Spain, dated to the Chalcolithic period (ca. 3000-2200 BC), consisting of a settlement and a cemetery with over 80 megalithic tombs. Heavily fortified, the site also has 13 outpost forts protecting it; and it is conveniently situated next to a copper mine. Associated sites are found all over Andalusia, Eastern Spain and Portugal.
