Archaeology Careers: Experience Tells
A bio-anthropological Catch-22

I am a Mayanist, bioanthropologist-osteologist currently working at a medical school/VA. This is a research job that pays very well but is very stressful. We have to really grab grants so we can keep working. I made my first real money doing faunal analysis, I love it and I am very good at it. I would love to be in an academic position with split research and teaching duties. I am older and have the usual old age related problems that keep me out of the field so I would love a lab centered job. I would also love working within my own discipline again. Unfortunately, I am making too much money to take an entry level teaching job and no institution could afford my current salary. Catch 22. I really miss anthropology.
