Careers in Archaeology: Public Archaeologist

Description: Communicates archaeological information to the general public.
Alternate Titles: Outreach Coordinator
Duties: Works with archaeologist to provide news reports, web sites, public talks, and other publications on archaeological information for consumption by the public.
Locations: Generally limited to positions at government-level archaeologist offices and historical societies.
Job Type: Permanent, may be part time or full time, benefited.
Availability of Employment: These are very few and far between.
Pay Range: Varies widely.
Education Level Required: Varies; usually a combination of an MA in anthropology, plus experience and knowledge in archaeology and the media.
