An exhibit of artifacts from the Kingdom of Benin at Penn Museum runs from November 8, 2008 through March 1, 2009. The exhibit shows nearly 100 cast bronzes, carved ivories and wooden objects dated between the 16th and 21st centuries AD. This photo essay illustrates some of the bronze artifacts on display.

Figure Caption: This late 16th/early 17th bronze head from Nigeria's Benin Kingdom's depicts Idia, its first Iyoba, or Queen Mother.
