Edit technical reports for archaeological projects, manage publication and produce reports, organize and produce written documents including web-based and traditional publications

Alternate Titles:

Technical Writer, senior editor, publications manager

Duties:

Work with principal investigators and other staff members to produce technical archaeological reports for clients and general archaeology reports and brochures for the public, may work with graphics artists and format and produce a final product, or work with a professional publisher. May assist with web site design.

Locations:

Universities and CRM institutions around the world

Job Type:

Generally part-time, may be freelance or, in a large company, full time with benefits, depending on range of activities.

Availability of Employment:

Full-time jobs are hard to find; freelancing opportunities are more available.

Education Level Required:

Varies greatly; you do need technical writing experience. An archaeological background is useful; facility with a range of software products is becoming a necessity. Additional marketable skills include web design
