Many great books have been written in the last few years about the mysterious Indus civilization, by several of the best known researchers. And no wonder! There is still much to be learned of this most ancient of societies on planet earth, in the Greater Indus Valley of Pakistan and India.

Altamira Press 2002Indus River Civilization is by Gregory Possehl, and is an excellent in-depth study for the serious student of archaeology, covering current and past investigations into many of the sites of the Harappan culture of Pakistan and India. Published in 2002 by Altamira Press.
This 1998 book by Jonathon Mark Kenoyer was published by the Oxford University Press. Lots of illustrations, emphasis on the archaeology of Harappa, Mohenjodaro, and Dholavira.
W.A. Fairservis is one of the researchers working on the Indus Script, and his book (dated 1992) is a classic from the Oxford University Press.
This book by one of the important investigators of the Indus Civilization, Shikaripur Ranganatha Rao, was published in India in 1991, and is most concerned with debunking the 'aryan invaders' mythology.
Irfan Habib's contribution to the Indus Valley publications is part of the People's History of India.
