View of Depression Prior to Excavation

This is what the ruins of the dugout looked like after the vegetation was cleared away and before the excavations began. The depression is some 20 feet long and 13 feet wide, and it is between four and six feet deep. The trees standing within the depression are between 30 and 50 years old.
