Definition: Israeli archaeologist Ofer Bar-Yosef has worked extensively in Israel and the Levant on numerous sites. Although he has conducted archaeological investigations on many sites in Israel while associated with Hebrew University, his best known work is probably on Middle Paleolithic sites such as Ubeidiya and Kebara Cave; on Neolithic sites such as Netiv Hagdud; and on Natufian sites and the origins of agriculture.
Bar-Yosef was trained at Hebrew University and is currently Professor of Anthropology at Harvard University and Curator of Paleolithic Archaeology in the Peabody Museum.
