Paolo Orsi [1859-1935]

Definition: Italian archaeologist Paolo Orsi was director of the Museum of Sicily in Syracuse for thirty years. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Orsi conducted several major excavations in Sicily, and published several important volumes on his work. He is associated most closely with the Stentinello culture; and the Museum of Sicily has been renamed in his honor.
