Vincas P. Steponaitis

Definition: American archaeologist Vincas Steponaitis is probably best known for his work on settlement patterns and site catchment analysis, although his work has included the study of complex chiefdoms and ceramic studies, particularly of the American southeast at sites such as Moundville. Trained at Harvard and the University of Michigan, Steponaitis is currently Professor of Anthropology and Director of the Research Laboratories of Archaeology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
