William Duncan Strong [1899–1962]

Definition: Pioneer American archaeologist William Duncan Strong was educated at the University of California at Berkeley as a student of Alfred Kroeber. He was associated with the Bureau of American Ethnology at the Smithsonian Institution and was a faculty member and chair at Columbia University. Strong conducted considerable fieldwork in Middle and South America, including work in Honduras and Peru.
