Titus Tobler [1806-1877]

Definition: Swiss explorer, physician and adventurer Titus Tobler was fascinated by the Holy Land of Syria and Palestine. Tobler traveled to the region at least five times between 1830 and 1870, drawing maps and making notes. He published extensively on Palestine, and translated Monk Theoderich's journals from German into Latin.
