Henri Victor Vallois [1889-1981]

By , About.com Guide

Definition: Henri V. Vallois was a French paleontologist who is known most for his work with Marcellin Boule at the Neandertal site of La Chapelle aux Saintes in the early decades of the 20th century. He was thrust unwillingly into the creationist debate after his colleague Boule died and he produced later editions of their text Fossil Men, with editorial changes that creationists have willfully misinterpreted. Vallois' long career also included investigations at other early hominin sites such as Fontéchevade.
