Definition: The Swiss archaeologists Emile and Paul Vouga were father and son, who separately investigated the Iron Age site of La Tène. Emile Vouga excavated at La Tène in the mid-1870s, alongside William Wavre. They found two bridges, structures, a complete lack of artifacts associated with women, and a stash of at least forty pieces of arms, leading them to argue that the site was an Iron Age arms depot. From 1907 to 1918, Paul Vouga returned to La Tène with Wavre, and discovered yet more arms and assorted military equipment; they argued that La Tène was a military encampment, rather than strictly an armory.
